Last week, I had the pleasure of attending an event in Palm Springs with fellow industry leaders.
In addition to soaking up the time warp to summer in one of my favorite places, I met some incredible designers, architects, and vendors who are leading the charge on innovation in thoughtful + inspiring ways.
There is something so grounding + magical about this place.
To be truly innovative, our clients should walk away saying, “I’ve never experienced that before”.
Among the engaging panels, workshops, and meals together, we discussed the changing hospitality, healthcare, and workplace environments as they relate to generational, cultural, neurological, and technological differences.
We shared project + industry challenges we face, as well as offering solutions and a safe space to vent. We discussed how to design spaces that address various communication styles, ways we are redefining the purpose of good design, and challenged the idea of what brand actually means.
Needless to say, it was a truly valuable three days.
A few of my favorite takeaways:
Good design earns trust.
Good design eliminates regrets.
Space in and of itself is luxury.
As designers we are interpreters.
Constraints inspire creative solutions for a good designer.
Your brand isn’t how you look, it’s how you’re remembered.
I also saw several products. But of all the products- and there were many- there was one that stood out.

The most impressive + impactful had to be Lightglass simulated skylights + windows. Please check out their website for more images/info.
This is such a beautiful + seamless way to incorporate biophilia in spaces where access to daylight just isn’t available. This product gives us designers a real solution to improving wellness, and I am so grateful it exists.
